Videos are gaining popularity by the day. Of all the content that is consumed on the internet, it comprises 1/3rd video content. From recipe videos to makeup tutorials to gaming videos. Millions and millions of videos are posted and watched on the internet.

Editing videos and creating movies is a new way for people to express themselves and their imagination. There are several ways in which a person can show what goes on in their head through a motion picture or even a documentary. Videos help create awareness about a topic or even spread information so that it reaches a larger population. It’s even easier to watch videos rather than reading lengthy texts.

Does this scare the SEO specialist or the writer in you? Sweat not!  Because now there are several platforms and tools that have made learning video editing very easy. Whether you have an IOS system or a PC. Easily learn video editing and learn tips and tricks to become a pro!  iMovie, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere Pro CC are only a few of the software that professionals use to edit their movies.

Few terms that come in-handy when it comes to video editing are -

  • Aspect Ratio - This determines the screen ratio of the video ie the length and width. Ideally, it is 16:9 or 4:3.
  • Close-Up - It refers to the up-close shot of the subject in the movie. It may be the actor or even a product for which the shoot is being done.
  • Color-Correction - It is the process where the video editor changes the color in the video for visual effects.
  • Compression - It is the process of reducing the data value of the file so that it takes up less space. It takes a lot of time to compress the video but the effort is worth it if you want to save a lot of videos.
  • Depth of Field - It refers to that part of the video that is in focus when capturing.
  • Frame rate - It refers to the number of frames per screen. It is in a numerical value like 24, 25, 30, 40, or 60.
  • F-Stop - It refers to the opening of the Aperture. The lower the number of F-Stop, the bigger the aperture.
  • Memory bank - It records few or all moments of a person’s life.
  • Pixel Aspect Ratio - The thousands of tiny squares on the screen are pixels. The ratio of the dimensions of the pixel is known as the pixel aspect ratio.
  • Wide- Angle - In a wide-angle lens the camera captures more of the subject from an equal distance rather than when in normal mode.

These can help you understand the fundamentals of video making. All these terms are not required if you are making videos for personal reasons, but professionally you need to know. You can also take up an online video editing course to know more about learning video editing.
